If you've spent enough time f#$king around in the woods you've invariably come across your share of NGS Benchmarks.

When Outpost first opened and we were still hunting around for some sort of symbol to represent the shop these National Geodetic Survey Marks were on the short list along with the Firetower and the Poison Ivy Leaf that we eventually settled on. 

We revisited the idea in late 2019, early 2020 as part of an ill fated coffee outside collaboration with Blanchard's.

Then at some point during the chaotic renovations at 3416 Semmes Ave. the idea made its way back out of the junk drawer as a way to simultaneously connect and differentiate the two locations from one another.
