Marin Nicasio/ The jack of all trades on a budget.
"As far as entry level “road” bikes go many of the options out there are pretty lacking. Harsh aluminum frames, poor clearance for larger tires, and rim brakes often make for a bike that really is only for pure road riding, yet at the same time hardly excels at it."
The Marin Nicasio is the anti-entry level road bike. A chromoly frame and fork make for a much smoother ride than comparably priced aluminum frames. Clearance for a variety of tire sizes means the rider is not stuck running super narrow high-pressure tires if that’s not their cup of tea. Disc brakes make for better control. All of this makes for a “road” bike that is just as at home on the Capitol Trail as it is riding across the gravel of Belle Isle to get there.
On top of all that Marin equipped the frame and fork with plenty of mounts for racks and fenders allowing this bike to easily double as a commuter or even mid-weight touring bike.
Several of our customers who picked up this bike took advantage of the fact that the wheel size can easily be changed from 700c to 650b to get even MORE tire clearance for touring or mixed surface riding.
At this price, the Nicasio is as close to a true jack of all trades drop bar bike as there ever has been. Check out the stock 700c version Here.
