The Norco Search Tiagra/ Review.
"The Search from Norco redefines the entry-level road bike."
Sure, the basic materials are the same as your typical road bike. A light aluminum frame and a carbon fiber fork are almost always the starting point for road bikes in this price range. The geometry makes for a bike that is both stable and responsive to acceleration.
However, once you get past the basic criteria for what makes a “road bike”, the Norco Search goes further. Much further.
Without making any design compromises clearance for larger tires is added. This means while the Search is absolutely a capable pavement crusher on a group ride, it can also be fitted with larger slick or semi-knobby tires if the adventure calls for it. 35mm wide to be precise which opens up a whole new world of tire choices for different occasions.
Every Search is equipped with disc brakes which increase the stopping performance significantly over rim brakes. Especially if it’s wet out or you’re off-road.
Lastly, every Search is geared with what we like to call a “sub-compact” crank and wider range cassette? What does that mean? It’s simple. You have all the hard gears you need for a fast ride out the Capital Trail but also much lower gears are at your disposal as well should you venture into the mountains or off-road.
You may hear us talk in the shop about the perfect bike for riding from the neighborhood, hitting the gravel from Reedy Creek, across Belle Isle and then hopping on the Cap Trail. Well, this is it.
