Sick Hybrids; The Fairdale Weekender.
It should come as no surprise that we are extra excited to have received quite a few 2022 Fairdale Weekenders.
After all, we have sent over 70 of these amazing bikes into the wild since we opened almost 6 years ago.
All in, it’s our best selling bike and for good reason. It’s easily one of the versatile “hybrid” bikes we sell and I’ll get into why that is in a moment. But what makes it special is there is certainly a bit of magic to the ride quality of this machine. Now for those of you who are familiar with Outpost and the tastes of those who work here you already know we like steel bikes. There is just something special about how steel rides. Despite being often overshadowed by fancy carbon fiber and hydroformed aluminum frames, the “riddle of steel” remains in how it just seems to soak up bumps and bad vibes in a truly unique way. The Fairdale Weekender is no exception. The bike wizards at Fairdale HQ really outdid themselves (and most other bike designers out there).
The TL/DR version: this bike punches well above its weight when it comes to ride quality.
But as I mentioned before, there’s quite a bit more to this than just the ride. The Weekender is easily one of the most versatile bikes we sell and it really shows in some of the various customized setups we have facilitated. With setups running the gamut from hybrid to gravel bike to all day cap trail crusher we have had the honor of making some really cool bikes.
For this year the Weekender Archer remains Fairdale’s less expensive build and is so well equipped there really isn’t much you need to add on to hit the ground rolling. As before the Weekender gets a simple one-by drivetrain, but with an expanded range of gearing to make conquering hills and off-road adventures that much easier. The brakes are as always, reliable cable-actuated disc brakes, and the wheels are once again tubeless-compatible for those who plan on unlocking that technology in the future. Topped off with some ready-to-stomp on Odyssey pedals and you can literally ride out the front door and into the sunset.
