The Norco Search Tiagra/ Review.

"The Search from Norco redefines the entry-level road bike." Sure, the basic materials are the same as your typical road bike. A light aluminum frame and a carbon fiber fork are almost always the starting point for road bikes in this price range.

Marin Nicasio/ The jack of all trades on a budget.

"As far as entry level “road” bikes go many of the options out there are pretty lacking.  Harsh aluminum frames, poor clearance for larger tires, and rim brakes often make for a bike that really is only for pure road riding, yet at the same time hardly excels at it." The Marin Nicasio is the anti-entry level road bike. A chromoly frame and fork make for a much smoother ride than comparably priced aluminum frames. Clearance for a variety of tire sizes means the rider...

Outpost Adventure Club/ Chippokes Campout.

"Join the Outpost Adventure Club on August 18th for a semi-guided bike camping trip to Chippokes Plantation State Park in Surry, Virginia." Chippokes is one of the best state parks in Central Virginia to camp at as a beginner or with the family. The park has high amenity camping and a few cabins. There is a sandy beach on the lower James that is easily accessed...

Virginia's Hidden Parks/ The Appomattox River Trail.

"...a fascinating mixture of differing terrains, diverse wildlife, and an interesting history all tucked along the lower Appomattox river." After prompting from a few friends I finally took the short drive down to Petersburg to explore a rarely mentioned park. What I found was a fascinating mixture of terrains, diverse wildlife, and...

Why I admitted defeat and finally went 1x.

"Without getting too far down the bike nerd rabbit hole I’ll break it down like this."   Like many people who have been riding for a long time, I have a tendency to get set in my ways. This was absolutely the case with my mountain bike. For starters, I only recently finally gave up my dated 27.5” wheeled bike for a new Norco 29er

WTB Byway and Horizon Tire Review.

I can’t go to far into reviewing a 650b tire without a quick note on the tire/wheel size itself. A few years ago 650b was on the fringe of the bike world.

Ready for Adventure, Mike's Soma Wolverine.

Mike and his wife had both found themselves taking a greater interest in riding this summer and the siren call of a proper do-it-all touring bike

A Series of Good Choices, Nick's Fairdale Weekender.

Nick’s Fairdale Weekender has been a slow but steady evolution. He first picked up this bike completely stock from us in May of 2016. First, it saw duty as a child carrier with a baby seat mounted.

Dynamo lights?

With the depths of winter upon us, it’s probably a good time to talk about lights. Or more specifically, dynamo lights.

Alex's Sram 1x 11 Upgrade.

Alex picked up this full suspension mountain bike a few years ago and has been putting gobs of miles on it ever since...

New Bike Day/ David's Marin Rift Zone 5

I’ve felt foolish these past two years. Living so close to the singletrack trail system wrapping the James river, but without a mountain bike to take full advantage of those trails. I finally took the plunge...

Custom Builds/ Fairdale Weekender

Since I opened Outpost two years ago the Weekender from Fairdale has been not only one of our best sellers but one of our personal favorite bikes
